SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 28, 2019) – The Power of Preservation PROMenade event awarded Mission DG with the 2019 People’s Choice award for The St. John redevelopment on Thursday evening. The event recognizes and celebrates the achievements of leaders within the preservation community and their visions for the reuse and revitalization of San Antonio’s historic buildings and neighborhoods.

“We share this People’s Choice recognition with everyone who has been associated with the history of this iconic landmark and celebrate with them the vibrant future that The St. John heritage represents to our proud community,” said Victor Miramontes, Mission DG managing partner.

The St. John adaptive re-use development consists of 228 apartment units,186 are newly constructed units in 4 buildings, and 42 units are in 3 of the renovated seminary buildings. The St. John includes studio apartments, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units.

The complex redevelopment process received critical support from the Archdiocese of San Antonio , City and County elected officials and staff, the San Antonio Housing Trust, the City of San Antonio Office of Historic Preservation, the National Park Service, UNESCO, San Antonio Conservation Society, San Antonio Housing Trust Public Facility Corporation, and most importantly, from Mission Concepcion neighborhood residents. Mission DG, along with Cisneros Miramontes DG, led the development team of NRP Construction and B&A Architects with financing provided by IBC Bank, 42 Equity, historic tax credit equity partner Monarch Private Capital, Bellwether Enterprise and Fannie Mae.

“The St John is a welcome development to the Mission Concepcion neighborhood. I join the parish members in appreciating the care and respect given to the restorations of the historical buildings and grounds. Thanks to all who made possible this beautiful improvement to the mission compound,” said Father David Garcia, former administrator of Mission Concepcion parish.
